Best Beetle Control Services in Phoenix AZ
ID / Biology / Behavior:
Beetles are biologically in the order Coleoptera from the Greek “koleos” (sheath) and “pteron” (wing). Approximately 40% of known insect species are Beetles. Fossil insect records include Beetles from the Lower Triassic period (220 million years ago)!
Beetles, in general, have a uniform anatomy; however, organs and appendages may vary tremendously between the numerous specific types. Some have a digestive system based on plants, for the most part, as the primary food source. Some are omnivores (feeding on plants and animals). Beetles employ numerous defense strategies including, but not limited to, camouflage, mimicry and toxicity.
Some (but certainly not all) species of Beetles indigenous to our Arizona landscape are: American Carrion (named for eating decaying flesh); Banded Alder Borer (trees); Black Vine Weevil (plants); Blister (emits toxin as skin irritant to humans); Boll Weevil (disastrous to cotton industry); Burying Beetle (buries dead birds/small mammals as food); Horse-Bean Longhorn (saguaro cactus fruits), and last (but NOT least) the Palo Verde Beetle – one of the largest (3-4 inches) Beetles in North America. The Palo Verde lives underground for three years (damaging a tree’s root system) then emerges during monsoon season to mate then dies. Their lifespan is only about one month – SO, though they resemble a flying cockroach, they are basically harmless. Ignore them, if possible, and they’ll disappear relatively quickly!
Beetles are found throughout the world with the exception of marine habitats and polar regions. They are considered Pests because of their destructive tendencies, living in (or on), to name a few: plants, wood, fungi, cotton buds and flowers, trees, a variety of crops as well as stored products (cereal, tobacco, dried fruit).
Pest Control products, if misused, can potentially poison or otherwise harm you, your children, or your pets.PLEASE NOTE:
Professional pesticides are only permitted for use by your licensed Pest Control professional! When their use is deemed necessary, WATTS Pest Prevention technicians follow stringent policies and procedures governing such use
We utilize an Integrated Pest Management (I.P.M.) approach for Arizona Pest Control. This comprehensive approach includes:
- Inspection - Service specialists conduct a thorough inspection of the property.
- Identification - Pests are identified for appropriate control measures.
- Environmental Modification - All possible environmental modification solutions are considered prior to any material application.
- Material Application - When a thorough inspection has been performed, a proper identification has been assessed, and all environmental modification options have been made (if applicable), a material application will be performed in a judicious, environmentally responsible manner.
A successful Arizona Pest Control program requires more than simply relying solely on your recurring Pest Control services. Understanding that recurring Pest Control plays a critical role, supplemental Pest Control methods include the client’s cooperation in properly preparing and maintaining the property being serviced.
